It’s hard to protect your business from security risks if you don’t know your blind spots. Last year, a survey of mainframe users revealed that 35% believe staying up-to-date on the newest types of mainframe security threats is their hardest security challenge. Additionally, 29% say they struggle to find the right tools to secure the mainframe.

The subject of mainframe vulnerabilities is one that we and a small handful of others in the industry have been discussing publicly for years. Today, we’re proud to announce a new partnership with one of those peers that will go a long way toward increasing the awareness and mitigation of mainframe vulnerabilities.

Key Resources and BMC Software are now working together to bring z/Assure® VAP, the first and only software that can identify and categorize the severity of mainframe vulnerabilities, to more companies across the globe. A bigger reach means more businesses will have the tools they need to identify and resolve mainframe vulnerabilities. On top of that, the BMC Software team will also be using z/Assure VAP within their own environment for the same reason.

Here’s what John McKenny, Senior Vice President, ZSolutions Strategy and Innovation at BMC, had to say about our announcement:

“Key Resources’ z/Assure VAP technology will be integrated directly into our development processes to ensure that all software we deliver to our customers maintains the highest levels of integrity. We are thrilled to partner with Key Resources to help keep our customers safe and protect them from today’s malicious threats, by offering this essential vulnerability scanning technology to customers for their own use, as well.”

The team here at Key Resources is likewise very excited for the potential of this partnership. z/Assure is one of several mainframe security solutions in our portfolio. It provides risk managers and security specialists with the crucial information they need to remediate vulnerabilities. We want more organizations to have access to this tool not only so they can protect their own mainframes, but so that we can grow the community of IT security professionals who understand mainframe risks.

Mainframe vulnerabilities have been in the dark for far too long. The industry can only benefit if we have more people who not only openly acknowledge mainframe security threats, but who are also prepared to communicate, collaborate, and share their knowledge and experience. We’re proud to help lead the charge with the experienced team at BMC Software by our side.
